Job Description & Summary

At PwC, our people in tax services focus on providing advice and guidance to clients on tax planning, compliance, and strategy. These individuals help businesses navigate complex tax regulations and optimise their tax positions.

Those in tax compliance at PwC will focus on validating clients' compliance with tax laws and regulations. You will review and analyse financial data, prepare and file tax returns, and assist businesses in meeting their tax obligations while minimising risks of non-compliance.

Be at the heart of Malaysia’s evolving tax landscape. Our Tax Policy, Technical & Research team shapes how the firm and its clients respond to new tax developments, from Budget announcements to global tax reform. You will combine deep technical expertise with commercial insight to deliver distinctive, high-quality tax thinking that clients and colleagues rely on. As a manager, your focus includes:

  • Stay up to date with, and analyse the impact of, changes to tax policies, laws and regulations.
  • Conduct thorough technical research and analysis of tax issues, and translate the findings into practical insights on how they affect clients’ businesses.
  • Serve as a trusted technical adviser to engagement teams across the firm, collaborating to provide practical tax solutions.
  • Draft technical communications, newsletters, thought leadership articles and updates to PwC publications.
  • Present at and help shape internal technical forums and discussions.
  • Advance the use of technology and AI to sharpen the delivery of tax technical solutions.
  • Contribute to people development by delivering training.

You will work closely with engagement teams and leaders, help shape the firm’s view on key tax developments and grow your career in a team valued for its technical depth.

To excel in this role, you need a deep understanding of Malaysian tax laws, the ability to communicate complex tax concepts to stakeholders, an aptitude for continuous learning, and a strong team and service mindset. PwC Professional skills and responsibilities for this management level include:

  • Develop new skills outside of your comfort zone.
  • Act to resolve issues which prevent the team working effectively.
  • Coach others, recognise their strengths, and encourage them to take ownership of their personal development.
  • Analyse complex ideas and use multiple sources of information, including broader stakeholder views, to build meaningful recommendations.
  • Address sub-standard work or work that does not meet the firm's or clients’ expectations.
  • Manage a variety of viewpoints to build consensus and create positive outcomes for all parties.
  • Uphold the firm's code of ethics and business conduct.

Requirements

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance or Law, or a professional accounting or taxation qualification.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in tax or a similar role.
  • An agile mindset, with the commitment to adapt to evolving priorities in a fast-paced professional services environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Malaysian tax laws and regulations.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to connect tax policy and technical developments to the practical issues and business challenges faced by clients.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, managerial, analytical and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative approach.
