Join our mission to make processes work for people, companies, and the planet.
We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer (Java), mid to senior level, to join the Metadata Platform DB team. This team owns Postgres end-to-end - from infrastructure and provisioning to the software layer that sits on top of it - and is looking for someone to help maintain and grow that ecosystem.
The Team
Metadata Platform DB owns Postgres provisioning and infrastructure as code, along with a set of Java (and one Rust) components built around it, including a core client library, a database proxy, a schema management tool, and a fork of an open-source sharding solution.
The Tech Stack

Cloud Infrastructure: Cloud-native platform, expanding beyond current AWS and Azure dependencies toward provider-agnostic deployment.

Core Technologies: Java, Postgres.

Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, a Go-based operator.

Systems components: Rust (database proxy).

Containerization: Kubernetes.

DevOps: Kustomize, GitHub CI, ArgoCD/Kargo, Datadog for metrics/logs/APM.

The Work You'll Do

Take ownership of one or more Java components in the Postgres ecosystem, including newly onboarded ones.

Work alongside the infrastructure-as-code side of the stack (Terraform, operators) to understand how your components are provisioned and operated.

Improve reliability, performance, and security of the components you own.

Where applicable, maintain forks of open-source projects - tracking upstream changes and making deliberate calls about merging versus diverging.

Collaborate with teams handing off components and with downstream consumers.

Document processes, concepts, and decisions as ownership transitions and components evolve.

The Qualifications You Need

Solid professional experience building Java applications (3+ years mid-level, 7+ years senior).

Experience with infrastructure and IaC concepts - comfort working with or alongside Terraform or similar provisioning tooling.

Experience building, packaging, and debugging applications in containerized and Kubernetes environments (Docker/OCI).

Experience with databases (Postgres preferred over InnoDB/MySQL, with a good grasp of Postgres MVCC and concurrency mechanics from an application perspective) and distributed systems.

Experience writing and maintaining unit and integration tests.

Strong communication skills in English and a passion for clean, maintainable code.

Nice to Have:

Experience with Rust or Go.

Experience maintaining a fork of an open-source project.

Hands-on Terraform experience.

Experience with monitoring and log analysis tools (e.g., Datadog).

Familiarity with agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Codex).

Senior Software Engineer - Query Engine & Database Systems

Celonis is the trusted platform to industrialize Enterprise AI. We believe there's a massive opportunity to unlock global productivity and sustainability by giving AI the context to understand how every business process really works. Join our mission to make processes work for people, companies, and the planet.
The Team:
The Engine Orchestration team builds and operates the distributed services that run, scale and balance the analytical query engines. We are the layer that turns a customer's model into something they and their AI agents can query interactively using our Process Query Language across enterprise-sized datasets.
The team actively evolves our new premium query engine, collaborating with multiple other teams across time zones. New features, improved operationability, robust security, and allowing for scalable customer workloads are ours to design and ship.
Our defining program right now is a multi-year migration of the query engine that has powered Celonis for years onto our new premium query engine. It is one of the largest and highest-leverage engineering efforts in the company.
The Role:
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to lead both the engineering that evolves the new premium query engine and the execution of milestones within the migration program that moves customer workloads onto it.
This is not a lift and shift. The two query engines evolved with different focus areas and the new premium query engine serves different forward looking use cases, so the job is keeping customer workloads running seamlessly throughout. You will analyze how the engines differ on real customer workloads, develop tooling, classify the root causes, and turn them into concrete follow up actions across teams.
Continuous operations are a crucial part of your job. You will help keep the engines and their orchestration healthy while the entire fleet moves underneath them, because a migration on this scale does not get a pause in customer traffic to work with.
Your work at Celonis will directly impact companies and people around the globe as they improve their processes to save money, reduce waste, improve automation and generally become more efficient.
The work you’ll do:

Lead the design and delivery of the services our team owns across new and existing microservices in Java, Spring, RabbitMQ and Postgres, from architecture through to production operation

Evolve the new premium query engine by owning and delivering entire feature sets addressing new and extended use cases, tightened security robustness, and closing gaps

Drive query engine migration milestones end to end and ensure operationability across their shared libraries as dependency workflows grow more frequent and complex

Establish and extend AI agent tooling to carry repetitive operational and development processes across our team

Sustain the operational and security robustness of our Tier 0 and Tier 1 services throughout feature development and the migration, and take part and improve how the on-call rotation works

The qualifications you need:

University degree in Computer Science or comparable education

5+ years of professional experience building Java applications that are scalable, reliable and testable, including owning it in production

Fluency in Java and Python is required

Strong experience with data-intensive, performance-critical distributed systems

Experience rolling out changes across a large fleet of distributed systems, and the instinct for incremental, reversible, measurable steps that comes with it

A track record of developing and operating systems that process data workloads at scale

Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms from a performance point of view, and of asynchronous and concurrent programming

Ability to turn a vague, customer-facing problem into a concrete executable plan, and to explain that plan to stakeholders who are not engineers

Excellent communication skills in English, German is a plus

Preferred experience: Java Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Databases, C++

Senior Software Engineer - Engine Orchestration

Celonis is the trusted platform to industrialize Enterprise AI. At our core is the Celonis Context Model — which combines process data, business knowledge, and intelligence into a living digital twin of the enterprise that AI can actually understand, turning AI's operational blind spots into operational clarity. World's leading companies trust Celonis and its global ecosystem of partners to make their AI agents, people, systems, and processes work together, achieving transformational outcomes. We believe there's a massive opportunity to unlock global productivity and sustainability by giving AI the context to understand how every business process really works. Join our mission to make processes work for people, companies, and the planet.
The Team:
Celonis Demo Engineering is the creative and technical engine of our Go-To-Market strategy. We are embarking on a high-stakes mission to build the Next-Gen Demo Factory - a world where AI agents and LLMs handle the heavy lifting of demo creation.
This transformation is critical not only to maintain our lead in Process Intelligence but to ensure Celonis wins the Enterprise AI market. By feeding operational business context to AI, we enable the world’s largest companies to industrialize AI and unlock real ROI. You will co-lead this transformation within the team, architecting agentic systems and building tools that turn customer business problems into compelling demos for 1,000+ GTM colleagues inside and outside Celonis.
The work you’ll do:

Architect Agentic Demo Builds: Lead the shift toward "Prompt-to-Demo" workflows, from Atlas mockups to in-product demos with Apollo. You will build and continuously improve AI agents to automate the generation of data stories, UI screens, and configurations from simple business requirements.

Elevate Field Delivery & Enablement: Create "Self-Service" agentic tools that allow Sales Reps and Solution Engineers to "chat" with a demo environment. These agents will generate custom talk-tracks, executive summaries, and personalized pitch decks on demand, ensuring every pitch is "Gold Standard.". Drive adoption through enablement and iterate based on user feedback.

Master the AI Demo Lifecycle: Own the end-to-end development**, release, and ongoing improvement** of our most strategic AI demo tools and assets. This includes identifying the highest-impact demo opportunities across pre-sales, prioritizing features, building solutions, and leading technical configuration and QA. Work with Product and engineering partners to evolve these tools alongside the Celonis platform.

Scale Through Automation: Identify repetitive manual tasks in the demo lifecycle—from data cleaning to screen setup—and build AI-driven tools/orchestrations to reduce manual effort and demo creation time.

Creative AI Storytelling: Use generative tools to translate complex data into visionary C-level narratives, ensuring our automated assets maintain a human-centric, high-impact quality.

The qualifications you need:

The Builder DNA: You are a natural "problem solver through automation." You have hands-on experience building tools that help others succeed and a preference for building a scalable "generator" over manually fixing a single screen.

1.5+ Years of Experience: Professional experience in Value Engineering, Applied AI, Solution Engineering, Demo Engineering, Technical Consulting, or a similar "Product-adjacent" role.

Technical Baseline: A hunger to learn new technologies and hands-on proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or a comparable programming language. You should be comfortable working with data, integrating AI models and APIs, and debugging the tools you build.

Strategic Storyteller: The ability to identify high-impact use cases and take complex technical capabilities and turn them into a simple, value-driven business story for an executive audience.

High Learning Velocity: The AI landscape moves fast; you must be excited to constantly experiment with new models, frameworks, and prompting techniques.

Nice to Have (Big Plus):

Cloud Platforms & Workflows: Experience building cloud-based workflows or applications using services such as Microsoft Azure and Azure Blob Storage.

Software Development & Delivery: Experience with GitHub, version control, deployment workflows, and maintaining web applications used by others.

Web Applications & UI/UX: Experience with frontend development and UI/UX design, turning complex AI capabilities into intuitive web applications.

Celonis & Process Expertise: Experience with the Celonis platform, in-product applications

What Celonis can offer you:

Unrivaled Family Support: Benefit from our inclusive parental leave policy—24 weeks of fully paid leave for primary carers and 12 weeks for supporting carers, available from your first day of employment.

Work-Life Integration: Enjoy Unlimited PTO (in applicable regions) and generous PTO globally, as well as a flexible hybrid work model that balances remote focus with vibrant office collaboration.

Continuous Growth: Elevate your skills through our 70-20-10 learning framework, mentorship programs, and access to a dedicated learning platform.

AI Product Manager (Demo)

We believe there's a massive opportunity to unlock global productivity and sustainability by giving AI the context to understand how every business process really works. Join our mission to make processes work for people, companies, and the planet.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer (Java) to join the Provisioning & Licensing team. This is a high-impact role that demands significant autonomy and ownership, driving the technical design and delivery of mission-critical systems.
You will be responsible for our core provisioning pipeline. Additionally, you will apply your expertise and technical knowledge to support the development of our strategic Self-Managed Platform Solution for highly regulated environments. If you thrive on complexity, enjoy taking architectural contributions from design to production, and want to own systems that directly enable multi-million dollar market expansion, this is your next role.

The Team: Provisioning & Licensing

You will be part of the Provisioning & Licensing team, the vital "glue team" between our business functions and the core platform.

The team owns the latency-sensitive internal APIs for automatically creating new tenants based on customer data, as well as our internal Feature & Configuration system (like a car configurator, just for microservices!).

Your team is a central internal unit with many touchpoints across other engineering teams and business teams like Licensing Management.

When it comes to prioritization, we value your input and expect you to contribute actively to the prioritization discussions in our dynamic environment.

The Tech Stack

Our stack is modern, cloud-native, and focused on portability to support our strategic on-premise deployments.

Core Technologies: Java 25, Spring Boot, Postgres as the main datastore.

Containerization: We are all in on containerization and orchestration, running our applications on Kubernetes (K8s).

Architecture: We develop within a new & modern modular monolithic application with strongly enforced boundaries between the modules.

DevOps: Writing deployment files with the help of Kustomize and deploying our applications with Github CI and Kargo. We use Datadog for metrics, logs, and as our APM tool.

The Work You’ll Do

This role requires you to operate with a high degree of independence, owning complex technical problem spaces, and applying your expertise to strategic initiatives.

End-to-End Problem Ownership: Independently take ownership of significant portions of the development process from architecture to delivery. You build it, you own it! (We mean it.)

Self-Managed Solution Contribution: Contribute to the implementation of the Self-Managed Platform Solution. You will support the team by implementing components, tooling, and integration patterns, leveraging your knowledge of Kubernetes, IaC, and On-Premise environments to help package and operationalize our core platform.

Technical Strategy: Have a strong say in the technical vision and strategy for your team, balancing trade-off decisions between the cloud and self-managed deployment models (hello, complexity!).

Reliability & Scalability: Continuously focus on the scalability and reliability of our services, upholding the defined latency SLAs.

Collaboration & Documentation: Collaborate with other Engineering teams (i.e., Identity, Platform) to deliver broad-impact technical projects. Actively ensure high software quality standards and thoroughly document processes, concepts, and insights (help us save time later!).

The Qualifications You Need

7+ years of professional experience building high-performance Java applications.

Strong practical experience with Spring frameworks.

Expert-level familiarity with containerization (i.e., Docker) and proven experience deploying and managing applications on Kubernetes (K8s).

Experience with REST APIs and/or distributed micro-service architecture.

Experience in writing and setting up comprehensive tests (unit and integration tests).

Strong communication skills in English and a passion for clean and understandable code.

Nice to Have (High-Impact Skills):

Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Hands-on experience with tools like Terraform.

Systems Programming: Experience with languages like Go for building automation and tooling.

On-Premise Experience: Prior experience with the architectural and operational challenges of On-Premise or Self-Managed enterprise solutions, including deployment models and packaging (e.g., Helm).

Experience with monitoring and log analysis capabilities (i.e., DataDog).

If you are passionate about Procurement, Supply Chain, the Celonis technology, and what it can do for our customers, here's your chance to directly contribute to taking our Celonis Platform and Context Model to the next level.
The qualifications you need:

4+ years of experience as a Solution Engineer, Product Engineer, Technical Product Manager, Founding/Forward-Deployed Engineer, Implementation Consultant or a comparable technical, customer-facing role hybrid role.

Comprehensive knowledge of core operational workflows in supply chain and procurement. You can speak the language of C-suite executives and seamlessly connect complex, systemic bottlenecks to strategic AI solutions.

A track record of building coherent solutions, not just isolated features. You think in terms of the whole solution and how the pieces fit together.

Expert in data analysis and data modeling including tools native to the Celonis platform: SQL, Python, quick to pick up new tools and platforms and able to prototype and build. Experience with platform-native tools like PQL is a significant asset.

Advanced architectural mastery of LLM orchestration, tool use/function calling, RAG, agents, prompt engineering, and agentic patterns for enterprise workflows.

Hands-on exposure to enterprise architectures, with ERP systems (such as SAP or Oracle) or Material Requirements Planning (MRP) logic considered a strong plus.

Join our mission to make processes work for people, companies, and the planet.

The team

As part of the Product Management organization, we develop the platform that drives the next generation of enterprise intelligence and process improvement. We are a team of product enthusiasts who like to push the boundaries of the status quo and drive the product forward with innovative thinking.
The Data Foundation & Networks team is dedicated to revolutionizing how businesses connect and collaborate. Our mission is to create a seamless, efficient ecosystem that streamlines processes for our clients. Because data integration is the bedrock of our platform, our team focuses on building the pipelines that allow different enterprise ecosystems to securely ingest, manage, and share critical data at scale.

The role

We are seeking an experienced Associate Principal Product Manager to lead our Networks initiative. This exciting solution aims to transform how businesses interact with their partners, suppliers, and customers by enabling them to share data securely and efficiently.
You will be responsible for defining the platform vision and strategy for our Networks product. To succeed, you need a deep technical DNA combined with expertise in data sharing and business networks. You will transform technical complexity into seamless "plug-and-play" data-sharing experiences for the world’s largest enterprises leveraging Celonis Intelligence.

The work you'll do

Define the vision, build, and execute the roadmap for our Networks product aligned with broader business goals.

Partner closely with engineering to optimize ingestion capabilities so network participants can share massive enterprise datasets smoothly.

Work directly with customers, engineering teams, and the go-to-market organization to deeply understand the data-sharing needs of network participants.

Leverage your domain expertise in modern ETL/ELT landscapes to identify key product features, integration points, and collaborative use cases.

Serve as the subject matter expert for Networks, championing its data-sharing features, security protocols, and value proposition both internally and externally.

Establish partnerships with key players in the network ecosystem to foster innovation, navigate complex third-party data architectures, and drive platform adoption.

Monitor key product metrics and performance indicators, evaluating feature adoption and data throughput to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.

The qualifications you need

6+ years in product management, with at least 3 years focused on enterprise software solutions.

Strong understanding of data ingestion patterns and protocols.

Demonstrable aptitude for learning and understanding complex business processes and challenges.

Ability to hold your own in architectural discussions with Engineering while simplifying those concepts for C-level executives.

Proven track record of crafting vision and strategy for complex enterprise software products and successfully launching them to market.

Strong analytical skills with a love for using data to optimize system performance and drive actionable product decisions.

Exceptional ability to influence without authority and tell a compelling story about the "why" behind the "what."

Nice to have

Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business to connect technical network performance to broad enterprise ROI.

Familiarity or experience with modern data management tools like Databricks, or Snowflake.

Direct experience with supply chain platforms, major cloud ecosystems, and navigating complex ERP architectures.
