WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Audience strategy is how advertisers turn a campaign brief into media that reaches the right person. It's the discipline of combining first-party data, third-party data, and modeled signals into a campaign seed or audience that delivers the right message to the right people and drives results. Programmatic media and The Trade Desk are built to be audience first, making these experiences core to how customers get value out of our products.
We are looking for a Staff Product Manager to own TTD's advertiser-facing experience for building, curating, and activating audiences, the product surface where audience strategy becomes programmatic execution. This person deeply understands how advertisers think about audience strategy, has strong product and UX instincts, and partners closely with the adjacent product teams to make sure the right data and capabilities show up in the right workflow at the right time. This is a high-visibility product role at the center of how TTD's buyers find and reach the right audiences across the open internet.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
• Own product strategy and roadmap for TTD's in-platform audience experiences
• Design end-to-end workflows for building and assigning campaign seeds to audiences from first- and third-party data for activation
• Partner closely with engineering, design, and data science to deliver best-in-class advertiser-facing experiences
• Drive adoption of audience features with agencies, brands, and internal trading teams
• Use AI to move faster, applying AI tools across research, requirements, analysis, and delivery to raise the pace and quality bar of your PM work
• Define and track success metrics for audience products, including audience quality, performance, and revenue impact
• Represent the audience product vision internally and externally with brands and agencies

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
• 7-10+ years of product management experience, ideally in advertising technology or an adjacent platform business, with a proven track record of launching complex, data-intensive products
• Proven experience taking products from concept to launch, navigating ambiguity and validating demand along the way
• Deep understanding of how advertisers build and use audiences (segmentation, seed audiences, lookalikes) and how audience signals flow through programmatic pipes
• Experience working with first-party and third-party data, DMPs/CDPs, or data marketplaces
• Strong technical and UX fluency; comfortable partnering closely with engineering, design, and data science to turn complex data into a simple advertiser-facing workflow
• Hands-on AI experience: you've used AI tools to accelerate research, requirements, analysis, or delivery
• Experience crafting Product Requirements Documents and driving cross-functional execution in a matrixed environment
• A demonstrated point of view on where audience targeting is headed as the open internet evolves

The User Trail team owns the analytics and observability platform that captures how people actually use The Trade Desk's products — things like page views, clicks, and other interactions across our core web applications. This event data flows into our data platform and powers everything from product analytics to an AI-powered internal tool our team built, which lets people across the company investigate what happened in the platform in plain language instead of digging through logs by hand. That tool has become a genuine business asset: it's helped support and trading teams give clients clear, evidence-backed answers about what happened in their accounts, and we're actively extending access so teams beyond engineering — including business and commercial teams — can explore this data themselves without needing to write a query. We work closely with teams across the company to make sure the right signals are captured and easy to query. This is a growth investment for the team: as more products and teams come to rely on our data, we need someone who can help set technical direction across multiple parts of the platform, not just execute within one.

What you’ll do:

Help set the technical direction for how we unlock our data for the rest of the company — from self-service tools and dashboards to the AI-powered assistant our team built — not just how we collect and store it.

Solve complex, multi-layered problems that span multiple areas of the platform, where your judgment on tradeoffs (e.g. how broadly to open up access, how much to invest in self-service vs. bespoke support) is relied on broadly.

Anticipate problems and scaling needs several steps ahead of obvious requirements, as more teams across the company come to depend on our data and tools.

Proactively identify and drive improvements not just to what the team ships, but to how the team works — tooling, process, and quality practices.

Influence decision-making within the team by weighing in with a strong, ROI-driven perspective on which capabilities matter most to the teams we serve.

Develop and share expertise across multiple areas of the platform, and act as a resource other engineers — on and off the team — can turn to for guidance.

Partner directly with the teams building on top of our data — support, trading, business, and product — to shape what gets built next and how it's exposed.

We are a global team with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.
You think in terms of return on investment — you can weigh technical tradeoffs against business impact and communicate that reasoning clearly to others.

You're a change agent: you don't just solve the problem in front of you, you look for ways to improve how the team works and proactively push those changes forward.

You communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, from engineers to non-technical partners, and you're comfortable influencing decisions without direct authority.

You have 11+ years of software development, engineering experience

You have a Bachelor’s/Master’s level degree in a computer-science or relevant engineering related field or equivalent experience. Not everyone has the same level of access to opportunities. Staff Software Engineer - User Trail

The Trade Desk is a global technology company and the world’s leading independent platform for digital advertising, with nearly 4,000 employees across more than 30 offices. Our technology helps advertisers reach the right audiences across the open internet — from streaming TV and podcasts to mobile apps, news, and more.

Advertising powers the content people love. When you work here, your impact is worldwide. We welcome diverse perspectives, encourage curiosity, and build teams that learn from one another. If you’re driven to solve meaningful challenges, we’d love to meet you.

Who we are:

Ventura OS is a new Smart TV operating system being built inside The Trade Desk, the world’s leading independent platform for digital advertising. Where the wider company runs a global-scale DSP, Ventura is closer to a startup inside it: a small team, direct influence over product direction, and a real OS shipping to real devices in real living rooms.

We’re deliberately building the CTV supply chain differently: more efficient for advertisers and publishers, more relevant for viewers, and more transparent end-to-end. The backend that powers all of it is being built now, and the Infra team is the critical foundation for it.

About the Team:

Infra is the foundation Ventura OS is built on. We own the compute, storage, and networking, including our Kubernetes platform, that every Ventura runs on, plus the source control and CI/CD pipelines that turn code into shipped products. We power the GPU and ML-serving infrastructure behind applied science and AI-assisted tools. We own every build system across AOSP platform, client experience and mobile, along with the lab infrastructure and release pipelines that keep platform engineering moving. We run build-test-deploy infrastructure for every app in the Ventura ecosystem, first-party and third. And we deliver telemetry end to end — from client ingestion to the dashboards leadership reads.

If it runs, ships, trains, or gets measured on Ventura OS, it runs on infrastructure we built.

What You’ll Do:

You'll be an end-to-end owner of the systems this team runs — designing, building, operating, monitoring, and setting the standards other inherit. As a member of the Infrastructure team, you'll be responsible for the scalability, performance, reliability, and visibility of every cloud service powering Ventura TV OS.

In addition to the core responsibilities of a backend engineer, you will:

Build, automate, and operate the compute (VMs, Kubernetes), networking (VPN, edge services), database (SQL/NoSQL), storage, and identity services every Ventura partner team depends on — using infrastructure-as-code and automation-first practices, and forecasting capacity needs ahead of demand for compute, storage, and GPU resources.

Partner with application teams to design, implement, and scale the services and infrastructure behind their products.

Own the identity, security, and compliance model for Ventura OS cloud services — authentication, authorization, audit, and adherence to security and compliance standards for every request, from internal employees to external partners.

Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance and cost while balancing availability, efficiency, and cloud spend across the infrastructure we run.

Deliver highly available build infrastructure (GitLab, Jenkins, Gerrit) and developer tooling relied on by internal engineers and external partner vendors alike.

Own AOSP platform, client experience and mobile build systems, lab infrastructure, release pipelines, and shared platform-engineering tooling plus build, test, and deployment infrastructure for first- and third-party Ventura apps.

Lead the GPU infrastructure and model-serving platforms behind applied science workloads and AI-assisted tools, including code review and incident-response automation.

Own end-to-end telemetry infrastructure — client-side ingestion, processing pipelines, data warehousing, and analytics reporting with data privacy and governance built in by design.

Drive major infrastructure and platform migrations, and lead adoption of new tools and standards across the org

Own operational excellence for every service we run — observability, SLOs, on-call, incident response, disaster recovery and business continuity planning, and the documentation and runbooks that keep teams resilient during handoffs.

Who You Are:

One of the best things about working here is the sheer variety of technical challenges. We don't expect you to know every technology we use on day one — what matters is that you learn quickly and solve complex problems with the best tool for the job. What you already know matters less than how well you adapt, think critically, and figure things out.

We're looking for a software engineer with a genuine passion for infrastructure — someone energized by hard, open-ended problems, not just familiar ones.

Culture matters here. Ventura is a small, high-impact team inside The Trade Desk, and we take pride in engineers who build trust, give generously, solve problems scrappily, and pursue excellence with grit. In practice, that means working with confidence and without ego: holding well-reasoned opinions while welcoming ideas different from your own, being quick to spot trade-offs, and staying willing to be proven wrong. It also means showing up for your teammates when things get hard.

You don't have to check every box below — if you check most of them, you're likely to thrive in this role.

What You Bring:

6+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful time on cloud platforms or distributed systems. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience — we care more about what you can contribute than your credentials.

A sustained track record of self-directed, end-to-end ownership of complex, high-impact projects — you think beyond the immediate task of understanding the "why."

Strong engineering fundamentals and first-principles thinking. At our scale, many off-the-shelf tools and techniques don't work out of the box, and you can evaluate and adapt solutions to a unique environment.

Commercial development experience in a modern backend language (Node.js/TypeScript, Java, Kotlin, Go, or C#).

Extensive hands-on experience designing and operating cloud services and/or infrastructure in production, at a meaningful scale.

Strong background in infrastructure-as-code and automation, and the discipline to get it right.

Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL data stores (Postgres, MySQL, Redis, or similar), including safe tenant-scoped data modeling.

Experience owning a shared platform that other engineering teams build on — codifying standards, running "paved paths," and driving adoption without disrupting partner teams' delivery.

A track record of sound technical decision-making, with experience of mentoring engineers through code and design review.

Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences, and comfort scoping and sequencing work under ambiguity.

Deep understanding of cloud services and Kubernetes on AWS, GCP, or Azure at scale.

Exposure to identity/security systems (authN/authZ, audit) in a production environment.

Familiarity with GPU infrastructure or ML-serving platforms.

Background in Smart TV, OTT, or CTV services — or on any infrastructure layer that backs up a hardware fleet or a consumer-facing OS.

Senior Software Engineer

The Trade Desk is a global technology company and the world’s leading independent platform for digital advertising, with nearly 4,000 employees across more than 30 offices. Our technology helps advertisers reach the right audiences across the open internet — from streaming TV and podcasts to mobile apps, news, and more.

Advertising powers the content people love. By making it more transparent, effective, and responsible, we help support trusted journalism, quality entertainment, and creators worldwide. The world’s brands and agencies rely on us to reach their customers and grow their businesses responsibly.

The scale of our platform brings unique technical challenges — from processing massive datasets in real time to building systems that operate reliably on a global scale.

The backend that powers all of it is being built now, and API Platform sits at the center of it.

About the Team:

The API Platform team is the front door to Ventura: every boot, every sign-in, and every API call from a TV in the wild passes through us. That makes us the layer the rest of Ventura builds on. We own the APIs the OS calls as it starts up and runs, the identity provider that authenticates each device and user, the portals operators and partners work through, and the pipelines that carry ads and monetization data out to the wider TTD platform.

What You’ll Do:

You’ll be an end-to-end owner of the systems this team runs, designing, building, and operating them in production while setting the standards other Ventura teams inherit. This role sits at the intersection of API design, identity engineering, and platform work: the problem space spans OAuth and OIDC flows, device attestation, and the authorization model that scopes every request to the right partner, user, and device. You’ll also design under a constraint most API work doesn’t have: you can’t force an upgrade on a TV in someone’s living room, so every API decision is close to permanent. Scale, reliability, and security all have to be true at the same time. There’s no room to trade one against the others.

In addition to the core responsibilities of our backend engineers, you will share ownership of:

Designing parts of the API layer the Ventura platform — the identity model, the API surface, and the developer platform other teams ship on.

The identity and access model for the OS: authentication, session, device, entitlement, and the multi-tenant authorization that scopes every request to the right partner, user, and device.

Design how partners and OEMs safely self-serve on Ventura: the authorization boundaries, the audit trails, and the identity surfaces that make it work at scale.

The shared platform every Ventura team builds on: the testing, rollout, and observability infrastructure that lets other engineers change production safely. When it works, everyone ships faster together. When it breaks, they all break at once.

The multiple user-facing web portals we ship, and the platform they all run on: auth, navigation, hosting, telemetry, and deployments, solved once for every other Ventura team.

The monetization surface: the APIs and pipelines that carry ads data between the OS, the ad server, and the wider TTD platform. This is the layer Ventura’s revenue actually flows through.

Set the developer-experience standards other Ventura teams inherit: the shared libraries, the paved paths, and the tooling that make good engineering the path of least resistance. Your customers here aren’t just our users; they’re the other engineers on Ventura who build on top of you, and the standards you set become how the whole org builds.

The operational excellence of every service the platform runs: observability, SLOs, on-call, and leading incident response when production is on the line.

Who You Are:

One of the best things about working here is the variety of technical opportunities. We don’t expect you to know every technology we use from day one. What matters most is that you can learn quickly and solve complex problems using the best tool for the job. What you know is less important than how well you adapt, innovate, and think critically.

We’re not looking for engineers who know all the answers. We’re looking for engineers who can invent the answers no one has thought of yet, to the questions yet to be asked.

Culture matters. Ventura is a small, high-impact team inside The Trade Desk, and we take pride in our engineers being trust-builders, generous givers, scrappy problem solvers, and gritty pursuers of excellence.

You don’t have to meet every requirement below, but if you check most of these boxes, you’re likely to thrive in this role.

What You Bring:

Extensive experience designing and operating user-facing APIs in production: the kind that can scale to millions of end users, where reliability and performance are non-negotiable.

Background in identity and access management: session, device, entitlement, and multi-tenant authorization models, and the discipline required to get them right.

Hands-on experience with API tooling: contract testing, versioning, and safe rollout and migration patterns across many consumers, including the backwards-compatibility discipline needed when you can’t assume every consumer will upgrade on your schedule.

Track record of end-to-end ownership: significant, self-directed contributions to production services from design through operation, not just feature work.

Experience owning a shared platform that other engineering teams build on: codifying standards, running paved paths, and helping partner teams adopt them without disrupting delivery.

Strong programming skills in a modern statically typed backend language.

Solid understanding of both relational and NoSQL data stores, and how to model tenant-scoped data safely.

Deep understanding of system reliability, observability, and operational excellence: SLOs, tracing, structured logging, and on-call rigor for user-facing production services.

Track record of leading technical design and influencing architecture across teams, and mentoring engineers through code and design review.

Strong communication skills with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders, and comfort scoping and sequencing work in ambiguity.

6+ years of software engineering experience, with meaningful time spent on backend platforms, APIs, or identity systems. We care more about what you can contribute than the level of education you have, whether that’s a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to Have Qualifications:

Experience building production services in Node.js and TypeScript, which much of our API surface runs on.

Strong experience running always-on services on Kubernetes and AWS at scale.

Experience with a production OIDC identity provider (Keycloak or similar).

Experience with device-attestation or public-key device-identity flows (e.g. SPIFFE, mTLS, hardware-root-of-trust patterns).

Familiarity with event-driven systems for asynchronous telemetry, audit, or ad pipelines.

Background in Smart TV, OTT, CTV, or any API layer that backs a hardware fleet or a consumer-facing OS.
