Lever application status: what it means and how to check

Lever itself can't tell you where your application stands. Its job seeker page says: "Unfortunately, we can't help you apply for jobs or check application status." Lever says your application is owned and managed by the company you applied to, so that is who to ask. Here is what the stages you may hear about mean.

Who to ask about your application

Lever says your application information is owned and managed by the company that received it, and Lever can't change it on the company's behalf.

For the status of your application, contact the company directly, for example the recruiter you spoke to or the contact on its careers page.

Did it go through?

After you apply, Lever shows a confirmation page, or takes you to a page the company chose.

A confirmation email is optional: each company decides whether to turn it on. No email doesn't mean your application was lost.

What the stages mean

Inside Lever, the company moves each candidate through a pipeline with three sections: Lead, Applicant and Interview.

When you apply to a job, your application lands in the "New applicant" stage of the Applicant section. The Interview section has three milestones: Screen, On-Site and Offer.

Companies name most stages themselves, so the exact steps differ from one company to the next.

What "Archived" means

Lever says: "Archive or Archiving also means to reject or to be rejected." The company picks a reason when it archives an application.

Hired candidates are listed in the archive too, under "Hired". Either way, an archived application is no longer moving through that company's pipeline, though a company can undo an archive.

Why you may not hear back

A company can send you an email when it archives your application, but it is a box the company chooses to tick. You may not get a message even after a decision.

Applying again to the same job

A company can block repeat applications to the same job. The setting is off unless the company turns it on, and its default waiting period is 6 months.

If you are blocked, Lever shows a page saying your application was already received, with when you applied and when you can apply again.
